What do an iconic venue, a band called Boy Hits Car and a dump truck have in common?
A true story that sounds like it was written by a screenwriter with a dark sense of humor:
Last May 9, Boy Hits Car was to perform at the legendary Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood.
But a few hours before the show, a truck hit the venue, knocking out power and.... the event.
The band said it best on Instagram:
"Instead of soundcheck, we ended up giving live interviews. The press arrived before the fans."
WHY DOES THIS MATTER TO YOUR BRAND?
This incident isn't just a bizarre anecdote... it's an unplanned masterclass on sponsorships and live culture:
Physical spaces are also sensitive assets. Your brand should know its risks and plan B's.
Narrative is everything. An accident ended up being content with high media reach.
The value is not only in the event, but in the emotional connection that happens before, during... or even when it doesn't happen.
Your brand needs to be present where the real stories happen, not just the perfect moments.
From SMART we have it clear:
Not every night ends on a stage... but every night can leave a mark.
That's why we sponsor not only shows, but live culture, independent spaces, human stories and emerging talent.
What about you?
Have you been close to a story that didn't go as planned... but was worth every second?
